Tree Trimming

Trimming of trees is such a common practice, that it is a wonder that there are so many bad trimming jobs in WNC. Trimming of a tree is healthy for the tree, if applied properly. Examples of improper cuts includes: topping, tipping, or flush cutting of undesired limbs. Topping a tree is so unhealthy that some states have actually banned the procedure. Sometimes it can function as a last-ditch effort to save a tree, but this is almost never the case.

The best time of year to prune your trees is in the fall, when the trees are about to become dormant. Other optimal times are the spring or winter. This does not mean it wrong to prune in the summer, but this is the time that is most stressful to the tree to do trimming.
